UFO BASIC by Leo Aerts
UFO BASIC, design by Leo Aerts. UFO consists of three dishes, made of sandblasted, mat stainless steel forming a modular set . As each dish has its own shape, it is possible to give UFO another look, depending on the way the dishes are represented. UFO can easily be turned into a fruit, cheese, vegetables, snacks dish, … . Each piece is signed and numbered with certificate. A pair of gloves is included. UFO comes in a beautiful gift box. Size: diameter 38cm/15” height 7cm/2.8”.
An alternative, called UFO, rests on three small feet out of blue Murano glass and is available on request.

Producing contemporary objects and pieces of furniture since 1983, Leo Aerts is famous for his ‘Ziggy’ line of vases for Ikebana, his ‘Ufo’ dishes which are all created in high quality stainless steel. His recent ‘Caldafreddo’ silver thermoregulated serving dish is produced at the famous Italian workshop of De Vecchi. In the White Hotel room, the displayed ‘ZubaZuba’ champaign icebucket is playing on the microarchitecture of the cooling tower that is seen as a symbol of the remains of European colliery grounds. Connecting industrial archeology with contemporary design seems to be one way to make us aware of the signs of time.
