Modus vivendi bowls by Pieter Stockmans

Admire the primitive unglazed outside and the beautiful shiny inside of the unique handicraft porcelain bowls of Pieter Stockmans.
They are produced according to traditional methods in his own studio in Belgium in little series. To develop new products Pieter Stockmans starts from the raw material, porcelain. He has specialized in making very thin, transparent products. Herewith he becomes a unique result. Together with his daughter he explores the limits of the material porcelain.

Pieter and Widukind Stockmans

Pieter Stockmans was born in Leopoldsburg (B) October 26th 1940.
1966-1989 designer at Royal Mosa B.V. in Maastricht (NL).
1969-1998 professor Industrial Design to the department Productdesign at the Design.Academy in Genk (B).
1983-1985 professor ceramics design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven (NL).
Since 1989 freelance designer.
1997-1999 external examinator of the Royal College of Art London (UK).
Member of jury's of ceramic contests all over the world.
