Michaël Bihain

Having trained both as a butcher and carpenter, Michael Bihain studied Interior Design at the St Luc Institute in Liège and Hull University. Following his studies he opens his studio BihainProd in London.

He is currently working with different editors (Swedese, OBoe, Aqus…) on the development of furniture design and accessories. Michaël Bihain also produces some of his work: notably his ‘Ondine’ park bench. Alongside his professional career as a designer and Interior Architect, Michael is teaching at the St Luc Institute in Liege.
In 2007 Michael’s Mosquito chair is nominated for the Design report Award of Milan, he receives the cultural prize ‘Coup d’Eclat’, and he wins the ParckDesign competition in collaboration with Belgian architect Cédric Callewaert.

His work is regularly featured in international exhibitions. The Design Museum in Seoul has some of his creations in its permanent collection.

Michael’s designs are a symbiosis of contemporary lifestyle and collective memory. A characteristic element of his research is the obviousness of the lines obtained.
